Rockstar sold GTA V over 60 million times
Excluding items, revenue fell 49 percent to $486.8 million, helped by the continued success of “Grand Theft Auto V” and the release of “WWE 2K16“, the latest game in the professional wrestling franchise, on October 27 in North America. Nevertheless, Take Two is still boosting its sales projections for the next quarter with a target of $260 to $310 million and $1.48 to $1.53 billion for the full year.
“In addition, consumers remain highly engaged with the vast open world of Grand Theft Auto Online, which achieved its best week ever for both revenues and active players during this holiday season, more than two years after launch”. Further, the company claims it has now sold over 60 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V to stores – though not all of those units have necessarily been purchased by customers. This week’s generous benefits package also includes plenty of discounts on the cars, helicopters and clothing featured as part of GTA Online: Executives and Other Criminals, along with a huge markdown on the threshold required to start your VIP Organization.
For the current quarter, the company sees revenue of $260 million to $310 million, again, on a non-GAAP basis.
The company did not mention any specific figures, but happily noted that GTA Online recently experienced its best week yet in terms of revenue and player activity.
Unfortunately it seems players hoping for Story Mode content any time soon will probably have a little longer to wait, or simply just give up and make the most of GTA Online, like everyone else.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said he wishes Benzies luck and stated that the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise will be going forward, according to GameSpot.

The good news for Take-Two is that it has a decent chunk of games up its sleeve and the time to talk about them.
The company posted a net loss of $42.4 million, with sales in the quarter down 22 per cent. Net revenue was $414.2 million. However, it will be critical that games like XCOM 2, Battleborn, and Mafia III perform well for fiscal 2017.
