Rodgers leads Packers over Bears in 26-10 win
Um, not for the Packers.
Chicago had to call on third-string QB Matt Barkley, who finished with 6 of 15 on completed passes and was picked off twice. The Packers ended up pulling away from the Bears, winning 26-10. Adams was cleared to play at about 1 p.m. Thursday.
First up, however, is finding out who will play quarterback for this struggling franchise going forward. It’s always “next man up”, even if there isn’t yet a next man on your poorly managed roster. Lastly, the Packers had 406 total yards while Fox’s unit had 189. During preseason, the Bears lost potential third-string quarterback Connor Shaw to a broken leg and signed Barkley on September 4.
All we can be certain of is that Hoyer’s time as the starting quarterback here is over, and that it’s nearly definitely Cutler’s job when he returns. The Bears have 10 days before their next game, giving Cutler more time to get back under center.
In the loss, the Bears lost quarterback Brian Hoyer.
So that’s exactly what they did.
The Packers offense did not return to form against the depleted Bears last night, they created a new form.
“It definitely makes us more explosive and it clearly fits the vision and long-term plan of being successful throughout the season”. “We got a chance to see him play live in the preseason game and he had a lot of production that night”.
CB Bryce Callahan also continues to impress, and late in the game LB Nick Kwiatkoski had a splash play again.
Second-half Aaron Rodgers resembled the two-time MVP, wide receivers Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery – sorry, that’s running back Ty Montgomery, for now – shed their, respectively, inconsistent and injury-prone labels and became risky weapons, the Packers pushed the pace with a more up-tempo attack and the defense did what it was supposed to do against a Bears offense forced to use its third-string quarterback that couldn’t get anything going.
Barkley had taken practically no first-team snaps and worked nearly entirely with the scout team as he tried to learn a new offense.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is known mostly for his statements on the field, such as his 39 completions thrown Thursday night in a 26-10 victory over the Chicago Bears, which shattered a team record.
Watch all 13 receptions from Davante Adams. Hutson’s catches totaled 134 yards, two more than Adams’ career-best total of 132.
Under the circumstances, McCarthy did a terrific job.
The Packers traded a conditional draft pick to Kansas City this week for Knile Davis.
Ty Montgomery and Davante Adams put in a receiving masterclass for the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night to edge them past the Chicago Bears.
Two, the Bears had to drastically alter their running attack.
The impetus for the changeup had to do with how the Packers utilized veteran receiver Jordy Nelson in the first two games of the 2016 campaign.
Rather than force deep throws down the field, McCarthy had Rodgers throw quick rhythm passes or dump the ball off to wide receivers out of the backfield. On offense they were running in new personnel down after down.
Rodgers reached a milestone, too.
Rodgers’ 56 pass attempts were the second-most of his career, trailing only the 61 attempts he had in a losing effort against Detroit last November. That’s because he stayed patient and didn’t force the ball downfield.
But what Rodgers did in response Thursday was among the most unique performances of his nine years as the starter.
Rookie Leonard Floyd had himself a breakout game, with 3 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 TFL, 3 QBH, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 TD. But Bausby had two holding penalties on the Packers’ second fourth-quarter scoring drive.
“That was a big jolt”, Jerrell Freeman said. “I think you’re seeing the other players get opportunities, starting in Week 3, but now because of injuries, it’s maximized and they’re taking full advantage of it”.
