Rodgers ready for action with Packers’ experienced offense
Green Bay Packers second-round pick Quinten Rollins landed himself on the non-football injury list to open camp with… a pulled hamstring!
“We’re not counting throws all the time, and it’s not a concern as it will be when he’s later in his career”, coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday, via ESPN.com.
“Over years and years of playing sports, it’s just rubbing together”, Nelson said. McCarthy likes what he sees from Palmer on and off the field.
“You could tell the difference the day I got out of surgery, and obviously then it was taking care of it and making sure it was healing correctly and not getting back on it too quick”, Nelson said after practice. “But it’s all about putting yourself in position, and winning the important games early sometimes, that can set you (up) for those games to be played at home because I think we all know… how hard (it) is becoming to play at Lambeau”. But he and Aaron Rodgers, who has dealt with injuries over the last two years, will have no restrictions at Packers camp. Rodgers joked. “Yeah, Jordy’s a stud”.
Tight end Andrew Quarless was absent from practice. McCarthy said he didn’t think Neal, a key member of the pass-rush rotation, would be out long….
Players can be activated from NFI or PUP lists at any point during training camp once they receive medical clearance.
Rollins was drafted to compete for a starting spot at cornerback opposite Sam Shields. Rookie corner LaDarius Gunter came up with a nice interception of Aaron Rodgers no less, who tried to lob a sideline go route to Jared Abbrederis. His calf injury in Week 16 last year followed him through the playoffs, and he missed nearly half of the 2013 season with a broken collarbone.
