Roethlisberger injures left knee
Beating the St. Louis Rams 12-6 on Sunday proved costly for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lost Big Ben with a left knee injury. At that point, Roethlisberger had completed 19-of-23 passes for 188 yards.
The Steelers will play the Baltimore Ravens Thursday night at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
“I believe we’re the hardest-working group in football”, Heyward-Bey said of the offense. “It’s not only about him”. It looked like it could have been a season-ending injury.
“The response that I got was, ‘Cam you’re not old enough to get that call, ‘” Newton said after the game. “It’s a constant battle to be consistent and stack up performances and I understand that”. “Anytime you get Ben slinging the ball down the grass and me catching passes, it’s a fun day at work”.
Pittssburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger grimaces and holds his left knee after a play. He also was the team’s second-leading receiver with 70 yards on seven receptions. St Louis upset the Seahawks in their opening game and got the attention of the league, but the Rams then fell back to earth in week two when they were dominated by Washington. Conversely, when asked if he had a problem with the hit, Tomlin responded, “I didn’t”. He’s never fazed by the elements, meaning the yards were tough to come by. “He’s always positive”.
Matt Ryan and Julio Jones connected for two touchdowns and Devonta Freeman ran for 141 yards and three scores as the Falcons improved to 3-0.
Quarterback Nick Foles finished 19 for 28 with an interception caught by Will Allen. Punter Johnny Hekker also threw low on a fake punt, giving the Steelers the ball near midfield.
Offensive Line- The Steelers gave up a season high five sacks and for most of the game struggled with the Rams front.
Both teams had running backs make debuts and Bell’s production was far superior to that of Rams rookie Todd Gurley. An interception by former Ohio State player Will Allen with 1:56 left set up a field goal by Josh Scobee to put Pittsburgh ahead by six points.
The Steelers may be in the position of them all, though.
Big Ben was the only postgame topic that really mattered to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have been forced to use their backup quarterback sparingly over the last decade, and their record is much worse when Roethlisberger is not on the field. Le’Veon Bell had the only touchdown of the game in his return, and the Steelers converted another two-point conversion. “We have to take advantage of them and this time we did.”.
