‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ spoilers: Third villain teased
But about five seconds into the ad, we see the back of another familiar-looking figure staring out at the Death Star.
If you were anxious that Rogue One looked too serious for the often lighthearted, sometimes campy Star Wars universe, Disney wants you to know that won’t be the case.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to open December 14th in France, 15th in the United Kingdom and 16th in the U.S. and everywhere else.
When news sank in that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story won’t feature the franchise’s iconic opening crawl last week, a lot of fans weren’t happy.
Others were simply redirected away from the Rogue One landing page to a picture of Han Solo and Chewbacca fixing a spaceship engine with the message ‘Argh! “I was just stunned by how many people were actually just that excited to watch the picture over and over and over again, but they are”. That’s because tickets for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story went on-sale, and not everyone got the showing they wanted. People reported that sites like Fandango had crashed due to the load, with some customers waiting hours to make their purchase. According to Forbes, the box office estimates for Rogue One are predicted to be huge, with the film opening to figures between $130 and $150 million domestically. “This toy drive is a way of bringing the magic and excitement of Star Wars to kids, so that they may experience the joy of Christmas and a message of hope”. But is another classic Star Wars bad guy also going to pop up?
The marketing stunt comes ahead of the December 16 theatrical bow of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, starring Felicity Jones and Diego Luna. As well as Rey, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” also featured strong females the likes of Captain Phasma played by Gwendoline Christie.
