Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – The New Details
It’s been rumoured and speculated ever since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was announced, but EW have confirmed it: Darth Vader will make an appearance. It tells the story of how a group of unlikely heroes unite to undertake a daring and seemingly impossible mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.
Since 2008, the Star Wars galaxy has been caught between two separate entertainment spheres: the live action world of the movies, and the animated world of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. “She’s got a checkered past”, said Lucasfilm president and “Rogue One” producer Kathleen Kennedy.
Rounding out the principal lineup are Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), billed as a “by-the-book Rebel intelligence officer” who is essentially ushered in by the Rebel Alliance to “steady the volatile Erso”.
From what was reported almost a year ago, reported, Darth Vader would have appeared in a hologram or viewscreen. This Imperial operative has high hopes of getting on the Emperor’s good side, and squashing the Rebels with his Deathtroopers will accomplish just that.
We’ll be covering all the big reveals from this story over the coming days, so stay tuned for more great Star Wars-y goodness.
Mystery Character (Forest Whitaker): Once the character’s name is revealed, hardcore fans of the Star Wars lore will know who he is, but he looks different than how the character was portrayed before.
Additionally, the inclusion of Saw Gerrera provided the studio with the opportunity to incorporate another one of George Lucas’ characters, as the Star Wars creator has since stepped away from the franchise entirely.
Despite rumors, we can now officially say this Rogue One character is Director Orson Krennic.
Entertainment Weekly’s latest cover shows some of the “Rogue One” cast, along with a Star Wars robot and killer machines.
