Roller coaster stuck in Oklahoma City, 8 being rescued
Eight people, mostly children, were left stranded about 100 feet in the air when a roller coaster malfunctioned in Oklahoma City Wednesday.
The riders, including children ages 7 to 15, were stranded on the Silver Bullet coaster for about an hour Wednesday.
It was also noted the riders appear to be sitting upright, which will allow them to be more patient while they wait for the Oklahoma City emergency crews to assess the situation.
This is a developing story.
Power to the roller coaster was shut down and the cars were secured by a chain to the track.
While park personnel were able to evacuate those in the back of the cars, those in the front needed the assistance of fire department workers.
Frontier City sent out a statement regarding the rescue to KFOR saying “At approximately 4:20 PM, the train on the Silver Bullet roller coaster at Frontier City stalled on the lift”.
The incident unfolded on the Silver Bullet rollercoaster at the Frontier City theme park in Oklahoma City in the US.
At this time, no injuries have been reported.
