Rolling Stones to record next year?
“I don’t quite honestly see it [happening] this year”, he tells the magazine.
The Rolling Stones vowed they were not splitting up last month, during a video message broadcast at the launch for their new memorabilia exhibition “Exhibitionism”.
He added that he only works on solo albums when the Stones are “in hibernation”, which was their state as a band before embarking on their recent Zip Code tour.
“At the moment, I’m just getting my head into the Stones, and I haven’t really thought about what I’m going to do afterwards”, Richards said to RS.
Keith is set to release his first solo album in 23 years, “Crosseyed Heart” and admits the record was badly timed as the Rolling Stones came out of hiatus while he was working on it. “After we do South America in February and March, I’d love to get in the studio in April”. He reassured fans that he’s still all in on the band.
He said “I only do it when the Stones go into hibernation”. “So, you can just fly anything around the room and, if it didn’t work, it didn’t work, and every now and again we’d hit on something and say, ‘Oh, that’s what we’re looking for”. But I know he ain’t.
The 15 track effort, which will be released on September 18, follows his previous individual efforts “Main Offender” (1992) and “Talk Is Cheap” (1988).
