Rolls-Royce unveils rugby-themed Wraith
In a challenge to established automotive thinking at the time, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars was founded when The Honourable Charles Rolls and Sir Henry Royce re-wrote the rules for what the motor auto should represent, and what the best vehicle in the world should be able to do.
Appropriately dubbed Wraith – History of Rugby, the coupe was designed as a homage to William Webb Ellis, the Englishman who is generally credited for inventing rugby in 1823. “21” five twin-spoke alloy wheels complete the Wraith’s muscular exterior persona”.
The car’s exterior finish is the same hue of white worn by the English Rugby Union team but the color is as old as the game itself: its first players, at the Rugby School back in 1823, always wore white.
The rose makes an appearance in the embroidered headrests, and the crimson color is continued in an accent panel within the dashboard and seat and door piping. The model is also bringing the Piano Black veneer for the center panel and dashboard as well. Meet its inspirational opposite: the new “Wraith-History of Rugby”. Navy blue door, dash, and carpet provide a subdued and calm interior combination.
Folklore has it that the rose originates from Rugby School and Queen Elizabeth I, her red rose emblem placed with her permission on the school crest by its founder. Indeed, many Rolls-Royce customers choose to express a particular passion in the design of their motor cars.
Meanwhile, VIP sales manager Jefferson Lizardo of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Manila said the Philippines has no allocation for the Dawn next year since Rolls-Royce has a limited number of production and most of the bigger markets have consumed this already.
The brand new one-off luxury cruiser has been created in order to celebrate the sport’s history and its reveal in coinciding with the world cup organized in the United Kingdom. Clothed in open-pore Canadel paneling that traces the horseshoe shape of the rear cabin, it demonstrates the great advances that the craftspeople in the Woodshop at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood have made in wood-crafting technology and techniques.
