Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan mistaken for terrorist in Antwerp hotel
What isn’t so reasonable is seeing the Roma midfielder just chilling in a hotel in his native Belgium and calling the cops on him on suspicion that he’s a terrorist. They suspected he was a terrorist and called the police because he was “acting suspicious”.
Guests had been alarmed by Nainggolan’s hat and tattoos, and called the police.
Not so. Fortunately the police officers who raided the hotel did recognise Nainggolan and insisted on having their photos taken with him.
And an incredibly understanding Nainggolan even posed for pictures with the policemen (above) to show that there were no hard feelings.
Nainggolan, who is likely to feature in Belgium’s Euro 2016 squad, was due to play in the postponed friendly with Spain but waited an extra day before returning to his club in Italy.
Mistaken identity: Radja Nainggolan at training.
Germany’s home match against the Netherlands was also called off on Tuesday evening after a bomb scare.
Nainggolan has since returned to Rome, where he is set to rejoin Roma in time for Saturday’s Serie A matchup against Bologna.
