Romain Grosjean to drive for Haas Formula 1 team in 2016
“Formula One is incredibly competitive and the only way to succeed is by finding new ways of doing things”. Romain leaves the Lotus team just as it’s about to be taken over by Renault, after numerous disputes with money this season.
The team are the first U.S.-owned entrants in Formula One since 1986. Haas is likely to bring on a Ferrari-contracted driver to partner with Grosjean as part of the Italian company’s commitment to provide engines for the team.
Haas enters the F1 fray after substantial success in the United States, competing in NASCAR.
Grosjean said: “It’s not a secret that I worked with a psychologist and dealing with all of that is what we do as well”.
“I’ve been involved in motorsports for a long time and learned early on the most crucial component is the driver”.
Steiner added: “In addition to being an experienced Formula One driver, Romain is very technically minded”. “He gives strong, specific feedback as to how the vehicle performs”.
Following two seasons on the sidelines, he rejoined Lotus in 2012, and has since recorded 10 podium finishes.
After consistency outperforming team mate Pastor Maldonado the 29-year-old believes that working on his mental approach along with auto improvements has helped him to produce a few of the best results of his career.
A second test will be held March 15-18 at Barcelona, then the new F1 team created by Gene Haas will make its official debut at the Australian Grand Prix on April 3.
