Roman Reigns Returns to the Ring, Cuts Backstage Promo on WWE Battleground
WWE Battleground airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Roman Reigns returned to the ring at tonight’s WWE live event in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Our man Neil Docking delivers all the drama as it happens, here.
Fight forever, this seems to be exactly what Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are destined to do, their pairing on the same brand was a curveball and turned many people’s heads during the draft as this match had been built as being “the last” but with both performers free to clash every night it seems not. The Wyatt Family are also a popular group with the WWE Universe but following their lackluster “Compound” battle that screamed similarities to Matt and Jeff Hardy’s “Final Deletion” coupled with the sinister group split across the two brands, a win for the family would make little sense. The champion is on SmackDown, while both challengers are on Raw, meaning any title change would flip the belt across brand lines. It’s hard to see the WWE not putting the main championship on Raw. Most feel that when WWE RAW took most of the gold that SmackDown lost a lot. I see Breezango grabbing the win as they continue to climb the tag team rankings.
The New Day interrupted the Wyatt Family’s return, and Bray Wyatt has been out for vengeance ever since. The win came at last year’s event in a singles match against Sheamus, part of a feud to keep Orton busy while Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins competed for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It’s too soon for Luke Harper to return based on his initial prognosis, so I see New Day going over. If Ryder wins, it goes to Smackdown. Rather than capitalizing on Sasha Banks extreme popularity, The Boss will instead take on The Nature Girl and Dana Brooke in tag-team action with the no. 1 contender needing to find a partner to tackle the two feisty females. There are a variety of rumors going around talking up who will win a certain title from the WWE Championship to the Intercontinental and United States titles.
The Miz retains the Intercontinental Title. He was forced to give up the world title that he won at Wrestlemania 31 without officially losing it.
Preshow: The Usos vs. Breezeango ( Tyler Breeze and Fandago)- This match was announced through the WWE official website as of Saturday.
The rumor mill has been saying that the rumored partner for Sasha is everyone from Nikki Bella who was recently cleared to return to Bayley. Prediction: Bayley is the partner, Banks gets the win – and a championship match at SummerSlam. Ambrose is the champion and seems to be getting a push while Reigns is the longshot as he is coming off a 30-day suspension for a failed drug test. Rollins is the dark horse in the match as he has carried the title for some time and done it well. The Club is being also being split up across brands as WWE ends its newest faction, one which was just starting to gain some traction.
