Ron Howard’s ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ is adrift
Chris Hemsworth got heckled by prisoners when he went to prison to research a role.
“The important thing is that this is a true story about real people and we had a duty as actors to do justice to these characters”, he said.
Chris Hemsworth has revealed he suffered a “food hangover” when he gorged on pizza when filming wrapped on “In the Heart of the Sea”.
In an interview on “The Graham Norton Show” Friday, Hemsworth detailed the experience, saying, “I was researching a film and we had to go in and basically see what the inside of a prison looked like and speak with prisoners who were willing to talk to us. There wasn’t a lot of acting required for those last couple of weeks”. (For research, but still.) And it turns out the inmates weren’t big fans of Thor.
“No, they don’t get “Thor” in here, they’re not going to watch movies”, Hemsworth said he thought at the time. “Yo, come spend some time in my cell, baby!” “I just started getting heckled, ‘Yo, Thor’s here man. Yo Thor, YO THOR!'”, the actor said.
“I’m making an attempt to mix in, doing ‘analysis, ‘ and I’m simply getting heckled left and proper”.
“The wardens stated, “You can not put on your hat, ‘ and so on, and I stated, ‘OK, no worries, ‘” he recalled”. For “In the Heart of the Sea”, he admitted that he consumed as few as 500 calories a day to prepare for his role as a sailor on the verge of starvation.
The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick.
