Ron Rivera isn’t satsified with just playing in the Super Bowl
After celebrating on the NFC Championship stage with confetti raining down on him, linebacker Thomas Davis saluted the crowd and ducked into the tunnel toward the locker room.
Davis went onto to say that the break in his right arm hurt and that he says he believes in the training staff and the doctors and hopes to do everything in his power to be out there come February 7.
Davis’ wife, Kelly, posted a picture on social media on Monday morning showing her husband wearing a hospital gown and cap.
Davis confirmed after the game to reporters that he did indeed suffer a broken right arm.
So with the Panthers set to make their first Super Bowl appearance since 2004, there’s no way Davis is going to sit out the game. Davis isn’t too insane about wanting to play, but the question of whether or not he’d be helping the team being out there with one arm is legitimate.
Davis was dominant early in the NFC title game recording six tackles, including two for losses. They forced Carson Palmer into four interceptions and forced two fumbles in an impressive defensive performance. At 32, Davis may be facing his last opportunity to play in a Super Bowl, and he doesn’t intend to let that opportunity slip away. “I guarantee you that”, Thomas said on Sunday night at Bank of America Stadium.
Davis has a well-earned reputation as one of the toughest players in the NFL. “Three ACLs. Broken fingers”.
Harper left with an eye injury. The fifth-year coach said he won’t have any more information on his status until after the meeting. Kalil returned in the second half to finish the game.
