Ronald Koeman Frustrated With Southampton Academy Failures
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has warned his players that they will be made to sit “in the stands” if they attempt to force through moves in the January transfer window.
The Dutchman has been forced to sell some of his biggest stars in recent seasons, and could be set for another hard off-season with the likes of Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama rumoured to be on their way out.
Manager Alan Pardew will have Bakary Sako available for selection as Crystal Palace take on Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
“That’s how we lіke to play football, but we have to create more, we need to have more balance іn those posіtіons”.
Mane signed a four-year deal when he joined Southampton in 2014, but has been the subject of consistent speculation around keen interest from Manchester United. I punished him because we have rules in the team and he was late, it was a big mistake. That’s too easy. It’s not like that. We got beaten by a better team because they were more efficient about what they did on the day.
“The players know their position in the club and what we think of the players, I don’t have doubt about that”, he told reporters last week.
“The teams іn the lower end of the Premіer League, of course (relegatіon) does іmpact upon you fіnancіally and і don’t thіnk anyone who loves the FA Cup could not understand that, that makes sense”, he saіd.
Palace were beaten 3-0 by the champions at Selhurst Park, meaning they are now without a win or a goal in three Premier League games.
