Ronaldo (again!) hits back at Real Madrid boo-boys
Real Madrid closed the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona after a 10-2 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon.
After two Rayo goals, Bale scored 25 minutes in to put Real Madrid in level terms.
Benitez also appears to have been blamed for Real’s expulsion from the King’s Cup for fielding an ineligible player against third-tier Cadiz and fans at the Bernabeu again whistled when his name was read out before the Rayo game.
Despite Rayo Vallecano’s recent form, to spring a suprise against Real Madrid is not impossible and it is definitely the best time to grab some points from the Santiago Bernabéu. This doesn’t benefit Madrid, or us or Spanish football.
Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is one of a number of key figures in the dressing room to have already clashed with Benitez, but he admitted the players have to accept whatever Perez decides.
“I am not going to judge the decisions of the referee, but from the sending-off the team did what it had to do, try to play well and score goals”. We feel downtrodden and humiliated and what happened hurts us all. “Some people even say that we could have lost, but I have no doubt that we’d have got it back”.
With the Madrid fans on the verge of full revolt, the hosts were handed a huge break when Tito needlessly lunged in on Toni Kroos and was rightly shown a straight red card.
It was Danilo who got the scoring started in just the third minute when charging forward from right-back to meet Bale’s layoff and shoot low through goalkeeper Joel. The visitors would then see 2 red cards, the first on 14th minute and second in the 28th, and basically the fate game changed completely and things turned out to be a lot more easier for the Merengues.
It was the first time Bale scored four goals for Real Madrid. Luca Modric set up Benzema’s second and in the dying minutes got another with a powerful shot from outside the area to complete his hat-trick.
In other results Sunday, fourth-place Celta Vigo defeated Granada 2-0 to reach 31 points from 16 rounds, while fifth-place Villarreal beat Real Sociedad 2-0 to get to 30 points.
They played Villarreal in their last game at the El Madrigal and lost by 1-0 in a very crucial match as they had the chance to move closer to the top two.
