Ronda Rousey blasts away Bethe Correia in opening round, dedicates win to
While the fans waited in eager anticipation of the main event between Rousey and Correia, the next title fight in the women’s 115-pound weight class came into focus.
“The day that (Cyborg) makes the weight and does what she’s supposed to do, that fight is on”. After taking care of her previous opponent in only 14 seconds, expectations were high for Rousey.
But her performance couldn’t match that apparent rage, and she briefly tumbled backward while struggling to find Rousey and avoid a fight on the mat with the 2008 Olympic judo bronze medallist. If you missed the contest, both Rousey and Correia came out winging bombs.
Her 13th foe was rocked by a right hand before getting thrown by the Venice superstar and eating nine quick, consecutive punches. “I hope that nobody really brings up my family anymore when it comes to fights”, she said.
But, the women’s Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion wasn’t the only one fielding Cyborg-related questions, as UFC President Dana White also told FOX Sports that the fight is – and always has been – on the table.
“So I would not like to engage in a clinch fight with Ronda”, McGregor said before adding, “But, make no mistake about it, I have my ways to win that fight, too”. Over the course of 34 seconds Ronda Rousey absolutely obliterated the under-prepared Corriea, before landing a devastating knockout blow. It got a big reaction, and I’ve got a fight to sell.
It goes to show just how much Rousey really is a WWE fan.
Ronda Rousey preparing for her bantamweight title fight earlier this month. The book, which was written by Ronda alongside her sister, Maria Burns Ortiz, is a classic story of perseverance, depicting the struggles which Ronda faced in her journey to becoming one of the top female fighters in the world. A fight against Jessica Eye makes a lot of sense next time out.
However, Correia said she did not have any regrets after the game. And kicking ass aside, she’s already made a name for herself in Hollywood, starring in films like The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and, most recently, Entourage as a fictionalized version of herself.
“The Cyborg thing is complicated, because everybody is ready to go”, White said on Saturday.
