Ronda Rousey, Hailey Clauson to appear on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers
It’s the model and body activist’s first appearance for Sports Illustrated.
Sports Illustrated is the latest in a string of publications and ad campaigns to embrace the movement to promote healthier and more inclusive body types for women. Graham joins American model Hailey Clauson and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey. Graham has been enjoying the recent attention (I personally think she looks like Eva Mendes after a few good meals), who posted the cover to her Instagram recently, captioning it with “Truly speechless!!!” Since the defeat, Rousey has hosted Saturday Night Live, now graces the cover of SI’s Swimsuit Issue, and will still be starring in several roles in upcoming Hollywood feature films. “All three women are lovely, sexy and strong”, says assistant managing editor MJ Day on the magazine’s website.
“Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2016 Revealed” was a first-of-its-kind broadcast event that culminated with the unveiling of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2016 cover models.
Sports Illustrated chose three separate cover models for the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue this year, a first for the brand.
She spoke of her pride in taking part in the 2016 issue, an edition where, in her words, “every woman stands for something”.
Time Inc. likely hopes to generate more dollars from three covers instead of just one. “Ashley is a sultry feminine masterpiece”.
“It was one of those moments where I couldn’t have imagined it to be any better than it was”, she said in the video, in which she breaks down into tears.
The issues hit newsstands Monday.
Graham said, “I thought that we were like, being groundbreaking, revolutionizing by putting me-a size 16 girl-in the actual pages”.
