Ronda Rousey made drowsy by Holly Holm’s fight of her life

Holly Holm shocked the world Saturday night by knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193.

In video obtained by TMZ Rousey looks as if she is shouting a few expletives at Holm and then things got a little physical and the two had to be separated.

Former champion Rousey was the favourite to win in Sunday’s (November 15th 2015) UFC 193 fight, but it seems that luck was not on her side this time. “I didn’t want to kick her in the body ’cause we didn’t want her to grab onto [my leg], so we were going high and it just was there”.

Rousey came into the bout the heavy favorite, being the undefeated, undisputed UFC champion with an impressive resumé of 12 straight wins, all via submissions or TKOs. Instead, a veteran female boxer from New Mexico has the championship belt.

“We figured her aggression was coming, if it didn’t that’s OK, but with footwork and my career we figured she wouldn’t give me that space”, Holm said.

“There was lots of blood, sweat and tears, but it sure was worth it. I’m trying to take this in, but this is insane”. The ref called the fight after a couple more blows to the face, and a dazed and bloody Rousey was reportedly hospitalised following her crippling defeat. UFC Promoter Dana White and Holly Holm both said a rematch “makes sense” and Holm added, “With a champion like Ronda, who has gone out of her way, above and beyond, to do great things, absolutely she deserves a rematch”. “Obviously she’s completely bummed out and depressed”.

Maybe, but all anyone was talking about in the aftermath of Holm’s second-round knockout was a rematch with Rousey.

“We go back to the gym, we go back to the basics, we go back to what made her a champion in the first place which is just hard work, sacrifice, dedication and focus on being the best in the world”, he said.

While organizers had yet to release crowd numbers, Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium was transformed from a 56,000-seat Australian rules football venue to an auditorium holding close to 75,000 seats for the event. Ronda Rousey still furious, tries to punch Holly in the face as Holly quickly dodges it causing Ronda to lose her balance and awkwardly stumble.
