Ronda Rousey spotted training for the first time since Holly Holm defeat
Ronda Rousey will need all the help she can get if she is to return successfully against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm. TMZ released photos of the training session, with most showing the 29-year-old former champion throwing combinations at a body bag and grappling with coach Edmond Tarverdyan.
Instead, Holm could very well be the former champion herself when she again meets Rousey. There were rumors saying that Rousey suffered from a broken jaw but she clarified in an interview with People that it was only a case of a few teeth getting dislodged as a result of the head-kick that hit her during the fight. She said at the time: “It might be 3 to 6 months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact“.
Regardless of how much Tate trains her striking, and regardless of whom she trains with, she’s going to have a hard time making much ground on Holm by fight night.
Rousey landed a role in the “Road House” remake as well as “Mile 22” alongside veteran actor Mark Wahlberg. Instead, the new UFC bantamweight champ will step on the octagon against Miesha Tate for her next fight.
As many fans know, Ronda’s next fight – her first fight since the loss that left her hospitalized – is scheduled for Fall 2016.
Holly Holm and Miesha Tate’s fight will take place on March 5.
Last week, UFC president Dana White announced that the victor of Holm’s fight against Miesha Tate at UFC 196 will fight Rousey in November.
The ex-Olympian of course endured a shattering loss to Holm before Christmas, and afterwards she spoke of how unsure she was of when, or even if, she would be ready for a comeback in the first six months of this year.
