Ronda Rousey to star in film adaptation of her autobiography
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion, who knocked out Bethe Correa in 34 seconds in Brazil on Saturday, will produce the film along with Mary Parent, who recently produced “Godzilla” and “Pacific Rim”.
Well, it worked for badasses like Jackie Robinson and Audie Murphy, so it should work for MMA Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, who will star in her own biopic.
Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has secured the rights to Rousey’s best-selling autobiography “My Fight/You Fight” and Rousey is attached to star in the film. She then scored a left hook that stunned Correia, and ended the show with a right to the temple followed by another short left.
“I fight in the UFC, in the 135-pound division, ” Rousey said. “She can do it all”. “She can fight 145 pumped full of steroids, and she can make weight just like everybody else without ’em”. Instead, she became just another violently disposed of would-be queen. Tate took her to the third round in 2013.
One person wrote on social media: “Ronda Rousey is disgustingly manly”. What makes her so interesting is perhaps her position as an outlier, as described by fivethiryeight.com in a recent study of the statistics behind her fights. She can move down to 135 without ’em.
So Tate, after a convincing victory in Chicago over Jessica Eye a week earlier, beckons.
In the pre-fight weigh in, Correia also got in Rousey’s face and could be visibly seen telling her “don’t cry”. She earned the shot at the title by beating two of Rousey’s training partners, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler.
Wearing a red and black jersey of Flamengo, Brazil’s most popular club, Rousey was among the crowd of 61,421 at the famed venue Sunday. But Rousey went on the attack immediately and began pummeling Correia near the ropes before referee John McCarthy stepped in and stopped the fight. “I planned to, instead of trying to force a clinch, was overwhelm her with striking first to force her to clinch – and that’s exactly what happened”.
“I think that fight does 2.5 million buys”, White said.
