Rookie QB Prescott: Cowboys are Romo’s team

Aikman had a string of 184 passes in 1995, and Tony Romo had a string of 174 passes without a pick in 2013. But I’m not talking about playing Romo over Dak because the Cowboys OWE him, I’m talking about playing him because he is clearly a better and more effective QB than Dak will be at any point this year, or at least, he was until his last injury.

“This is Tony’s team”, Prescott said Wednesday. Somebody needs to remind Jerry that his team is 4-1, and despite his previous obligations to Romo, Dak gives them the best chance to win.

Dak Prescott wasn’t going to be a Dallas Cowboy.

Now, entering Week 6 and with the Cowboys receiving good news on Tony Romo’s back – his MRI has shown that his back has healed – questions are coming from everyone regarding Prescott’s and Romo’s position when Romo is good to go.

The Prescott-Brady connection is fitting, because it was 15 years ago that Brady took over for Drew Bledsoe and thereby launched his legendary career. However, as I said earlier, he did not turn the ball over, and the stage didn’t look too big for him.

The Cowboys are 4-1 with Dak Prescott at quarterback. It’s certainly brutal if this is how Romo’s career, at least his career as a starter and a relevant force in the National Football League, comes to an end.

Here’s what they told Clayton.

Ironically, it is the winning that have so many fans insisting that Dallas shouldn’t mess up a good thing.

After all, it’s not like Jones hasn’t already told us exactly what’s going to happen. “It’s the truth. Tony’s been here”, Bryant said before adding, “but it’s not for me to speak of”. But that mantra about not being able to lose your job to injury?

Remember, Favre partied his way out of Atlanta, then got lucky that Don Majkowski got hurt, and never relinquished the job.

Executive 2: Keep Romo, start Prescott. Sure, the Cowboys are somewhat married to Tony because of the cap. “I just laughed and said, ‘Good luck.’ Many have said that; all have failed”.

Executive 3: Start Romo, but get Prescott ready. “It’s a great thing to have this issue”. “So I’m gonna focus on that. That’s not a bad spot to be in”.

Romo, on the other hand, has had a successful career with Dallas in the regular season.

Executive 5: Move on from Romo.

For me, this isn’t that hard of a decision. He’s injured. He has back problems.
