Rory McIlroy: ‘I can improve after Turkish Airlines Open disappointment’
Rory McIlroy gives old driver to a fan who jokingly asked for one on Facebook. McIlroy’s response shows what a generous man he is and even the most cynical person couldn’t help but be impressed by this great example of generosity and respect towards his fans.
McIlroy is now in Shanghai (with a bad case of the squirts if his latest post is to be believed) and continues to plug his sponsor brands Nike and Bose ahead of the HSBC Champions kicking off tomorrow.
See the below screen-grab from an online conversation between the Northern Irishman and Mr Edwards after his off-the-cuff request for a new driver.
Sure. I’ll send you a Nike covert driver. “I was joking lol…” “Served me well! Message me your address and my team will ship it to you”, Rory wrote on Facebook.
The former world number one had been speaking of his current trip to Shanghai – where he battled food poisoning on Tuesday – when he made a few product placement comments including one about global sports brand Nike Golf.
Needless to say, Edwards was very surprised – and very happy.
“No joke. Message me and I’ll have one shipped”.
