Roseanne reboot cancelled following racist tweet sent by star Roseanne Barr
ABC has canceled “Roseanne” after its star posted racially charged tweets.
The White House isn’t providing a reaction to the cancellation of “Roseanne” on ABC, with press secretary Sarah Sanders telling reporters during an Air Force One gaggle that the president has been “extremely focused” on the upcoming summit with North Korea and other matters.
She later apologized “for making a bad joke”. She also said she would leave Twitter following the comments. The tweet has since been deleted.
A source told Radar exclusively that Gilbert, 43, who starred on the show as well as served as an executive producer, is “glad” Barr “is finally getting what she deserved a long time ago”.
Fellow castmate Michael Fishman called Barr’s tweets “reprehensible and intolerable”. “I’m really trying to breathe through it and stay in that dedicated-to-the-one-I-love mindset, but I gotta be honest with you, kind of hit my wall with this, kind of bummed out, kind of had it”. Barr’s tweet followed a Twitter conversation referring to a Wikileaks allegation that the Central Intelligence Agency spied on French presidential candidates during the Obama administration.
ABC’s decision to cancel “Roseanne” after star Roseanne Barr made a racist remark on Twitter will cost the broadcast network tens of millions of dollars in advertising revenue, according to multiple estimates. “Also, her context. Bill Maher’s orangutan comment is a comparison of Trump’s behavior and low intelligence that had nothing to do with race”.
The nine-episode reboot was an out-of-the-box hit for the Disney-owned network, which renewed the show after airing just one episode.
As far as Trump’s concerned, Nischelle Turner noted the President’s embrace of Roseanne and said, “It’s hard not to liken those two”.
In another string of tweets, Barr connected Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary, to Democratic donor George Soros.
The president had in fact early in the season called Barr to congratulate her on her ratings success, and she repaid the favor by saying that the compliment meant a lot because he was someone who understood about such things. “But you don’t have to participate in it”, he tweeted.

“I’m fine”, she said.
