Rosie O’Donnell says she has no ill will toward Barron Trump
“I never ever meant this as a bullying video”.
O’Donnell instead claimed that when she “tweeted from [her] heart”, it was done to “help so much with the autism epidemic”.
The 54-year-old comedian had posted a video on Twitter, suggesting that Trump’s youngest son Barron might be autistic. Trump brought her up during a Presidential debate to insult her, so the war is on.
But many commenters lashed out her, saying she was trying to unfairly diagnose the boy. She acknowledged that she meant no ill will toward the child.
O’Donnell said one in 55 children qualifies an epidemic, noting that is something she and the president-elect agree on – a category few other things fall into.
President-elect Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell have had a long-standing, public feud, and neither party has shied away from speaking his or her mind about the other.
O’Donnell perfectly demonstrated the stigma that surrounds autism by pitying Barron and his parents because of his possible condition.
In a follow-up tweet, O’Donnell wrote that there was no shame in autism.
According to the letter obtained by TMZ, the YouTube video falsely insinuates Barron is autistic. The boy fails to touch his hands and moves them erratically, which the user says is common in people with autism. It features footage of Barron from various moments throughout the campaign.
The Huffington Post has reached out to representatives for Trump and will update this post accordingly. He also stated that he is absolutely terrified right now. Trump said that after the shot the children got a fever and then was diagnosed with autism. Jen Hutton Heger added even if Barron is autistic, he deserves privacy because of his young age.
Hunter’s announcement Monday came just hours following a report that Melania Trump threatened legal action over the video.
While there’s absolutely nothing wrong or shameful about being on the spectrum, O’Donnell is basing her knowledge of the condition on her daughter’s autism. The only reason I made the video is because I saw how much social media was bullying Barron Trump, and I wanted it to stop. The TV personality was also slammed after exposing her daughter’s mental health struggles.
