Rossi ready for final push at Indy GP
The main players in the MotoGP™ title battle attended the Indianapolis GP Press Conference as they returned from their summer break.
Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi was the first to begin at the 2015 Indianapolis MotoGP conference. The reigning champion lies 61 points behind Rossi with nine races left.
“No”, Rossi declared. “Because 2001 was the last championship with the 500 two-stroke and it was a dream for me when I was very young to ride the 500, so I think that remains very important”. “This is a great season because of a lot of riders are very fast, so the level is so high”.
Valentino Rossi, in pursuit of his first MotoGP crown since 2009, has won three races this year. Dani has also won in the past and has been very strong here. “It’s another season and every weekend is a new story and we have to push hard”.
If we then look at the points scored by the three of them over the last nine rounds, it was Lorenzo who came out on top with 166, while Rossi was second on 154 and Marquez third on 137. So for sure they will be competitive like last year and he could win a lot of races in a row, like he did last year. The 25-year-old Italian injured his shoulder at Mugello, and is still not 100 percent.
“Of course last year’s situation was much better”, Marquez laughed. It has a lot of braking points and so it’s not my favourite.
“When I was a kid I wanted to race motorbikes”, Hamilton told the Mirror. “I will try my best with my team”, Iannone says.
Marquez’ third year of MotoGP hasn’t been as easy, causing the 22-year old Spaniard to question whether his aggressive riding style is suited to the latest Honda RC213V and Bridgestone tires. He followed this up with a win at Sachsenring before MotoGP went on summer break. “But if I lost it in the first part of the season, maybe they can lose it in the second part of the season”.
“I know it is a big distance but we will try to focus like the last two races”. And also 2004, the first season with Yamaha is good.
The session also saw strong performances from British riders Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith of CWM LCR Honda and Monster Yamaha Tech3 respectively. I was still recovering from the scaphoid so I was sitting on the computer a lot, answering emails and waiting for replies.
Qualifying has concluded at the Indianapolis MotoGP at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He is now 21st in points with 8, but is ready to entertain the home fans: “Indy really is a special place with a lot of history”.
“Last year, the tarmac improved a lot but its layout is different to that of other circuits”.
The track action kicks off on Friday at 9:00am local time in Indianapolis with Free Practice.
