Rubio accuses Cruz of vote shenanigans in Iowa
“Donald Trump has zero foreign policy experience – negotiating a hotel deal in another country is not foreign policy experience”, he charged, adding similar jabs at former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s stomping ground, New Hampshire was set up to be a resounding defeat.
Exit polls left little doubt that Rubio’s glitches ruined his prospects in New Hampshire. He says he’s willing to take on the gop front-runner.
“Maybe, just maybe, we are turning the page on a dark part of American politics, because tonight the light overcame the darkness of negative campaigning”, Kasich said after the vote during what felt like a victory speech even as he trailed far behind Trump.
That’s according to Rubio and his senior team, who told The Associated Press that the Republican nomination fight will likely go on for another three months, if not longer. His singularly disastrous debate performance, in which he repeated irrelevant, canned phrases, caused would-be supporters to flee for Ohio Gov. John Kasich and other more stable candidates.
The electorate also was firmly behind Trump’s controversial proposal to indefinitely ban all noncitizen Muslims from entering the United States. They each received about 11 percent of the vote.
Sanders, the self-described democratic socialist achieved the victory nine days after becoming the first Jewish figure ever to win delegates in a presidential primary in his second place finish in the Iowa caucuses.
“I would be surprised if it’s not May or the convention”, he said Wednesday. SC and Nevada, where both parties will stage nominating contests before month’s end. “The bottom line is he didn’t get accomplishments done, neither did President Obama”.
“The people of New Hampshire have sent a profound message to the political establishment, to the economic establishment and by the way, to the media establishment”, he said.
US Republican presidential candidate John Kasich, who has struggled to generate enthusiasm for his campaign, made a surprise showing on Google Trends on Tuesday in the run-up to New Hampshire’s primary.
Trump even matched Cruz among New Hampshire Republicans who call themselves evangelical Christians. Because of Cruz’s strength, though, with those core GOP groups and a favorable primary calendar chock full of Southern states over the next few weeks, Cruz could still have a big impact.
He told CNN Wednesday that he does not forecast a win in SC. An independent super PAC supporting Cruz already has broadcast television ads hitting Trump for his previous support for abortion rights.
“Let’s dispel once and for all with this fiction that Barack Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing”, Rubio proclaimed early in the debate, as ungrammatical and off-point.
Co-sponsored by PBS and the Wisconsin Democratic Party, the Thursday debate will feature the remaining Democratic presidential candidates – Clinton and Sanders.
Sen. Bernie Sanders was supported by 7 in 10 voters who were angry or dissatisfied, while Hillary Clinton won a majority of those with more positive feelings about the federal government. “My kids knew that it didn’t go the way I wanted it to go”.
With Clinton at her side at a public event, Albright quipped there is a “special place in hell” reserved for women who do not support other women. Almost twice as many Republican primary voters picked a conservative than voted for Trump, but they were split so evenly that no one candidate came close to him.
