Rubio, Christie planning sleepover with the Romneys
On Saturday they plan to walk in the town’s Fourth of July parade, which is a tradition for the Romney family.
Ex- Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is hosting two of his would-be successors Friday night at his home for the July 4th holiday.
Romney is also expected to meet with Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, who is spending the weekend in NH along with other presidential candidates, the New York Times reported. Rubio, Christie and Romney were also spotted in a local ice-cream shop.
Mitt and Ann Romney will have dinner with Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, and let the Christies sleep over, as well, according to the report.
Romney had considered another run for president in 2016, but announced in January that he’d decided against it. His endorsement is now coveted. “The Romneys are known to be annual presences along the parade route”.
New Hampshire holds the first primary election of each presidential campaign. Christie has so far refused, saying Wednesday that “we’re going to continue to conduct this in the same way I’ve always conducted it”, with the state footing the bill.
