Rubio On Trump: We Already Have A President’ With ‘No Class’
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio found a way to criticize both a formidable primary challenger and the current administration during an appearance on Fox & Friends this week. “It is important that we have – to conduct the presidency, it has to be done many a dignified way”.
Rubio also took direct shots at fellow 2016 rival Donald Trump, calling the businessman neither “dignified” nor “worthy” of the presidency.
In order to justify his claim that Obama lacks class, Rubio cited the president’s selfie-stick video with BuzzFeed, his interviews with YouTube stars, and his interview last night on “The Daily Show.”
Rubio then went on to attack the president: “We already have a president now that has no class. We have a president now, that, you know, does selfie stick videos, that invites YouTube stars there, you know, people who eat cereal out of a bathtub”. He goes on comedy shows to talk about something as serious as Iran. “He’s said things about me already before”. “It is the leader of our people and of our nation”, Rubio said.
Just two weeks ago, Trump told the Washington Examiner’s Byron York that “My sole focus is to run as a Republican, because of the fact that I believe that is the best way we can defeat the Democrats”.
Trump, Rubio assessed, has yet to behave in a manner suggesting he would meet that threshold. Rubio said it’s important the U.S. have a president who can debate “without demonizing their opponents”.
“It’s a free country – anybody can run for president”, Mr. Rubio said. “Ultimately, voters are going to decide this”.
