Rubio speech blasts rivals, ‘liar’ Clinton
The longstanding fight over the so-called Obamacare law is expected to continue during January. While it would be nice to win New Hampshire, Christie’s campaign is likely calculating that what he needs to survive is a second-place finish there. Voters are afraid and, says Marco Rubio, they should be afraid. “Marco Rubio is attacking Gov. Chris Christie”, a narrator reads, before turning to Christie on the stump. “You’ll know me full well, and I’ll have lots of opinions”. The ad concludes by saying “America can’t afford to gamble with its safety”. Cruz’s campaign also mocked what it called Rubio’s “booties”. Rubio spokesman Joe Pounder tweeted with a link to a video of Cruz doing “Simpsons” impressions.
The other spot, “Look at Me”, highlights some of Christie’s problems in his home state of New Jersey. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Yet Bush refrained from mentioning his closest competitors during his first few stops this week, saving his criticism for Trump as someone “preying on people’s angst and their fears”.
The two Republicans’ attempts to damage Cruz reflect their campaigns’ understanding that their best bet at a long-shot run depends on a strong finish in Iowa – and that Cruz’s strength in Iowa makes that unlikely. The group claimed responsibility for the November bombings and shootings in Paris in which roughly 130 were killed.
For his part, Christie said he welcomes the attacks from rivals.
For that to pathway to exist, New Hampshire remains the key. The ad features footage from a speech gave at the Military College of the South, known as the Citadel, in Charleston South Carolina last month.
“Christie is strategically using attack mode on the opponents where those attacks can move the dial in a meaningful way, ” Hale said. “They’re not high heeled”, he said. “He’s a tough guy and he’s decided we’ve reached a stage in the campaign where people are looking for that, so he’s going to let that side of him show”. Ted Cruz are clustered together in the polls.
But Cruz has defended his vote in favor of the law, saying it actually made the US safer. He also said in the Monday address he has “no qualms” about treating Americans as enemy combatants if they betray their country by refusing to disclose “actionable information” about terrorist threats.
So why are some of the other candidates suddenly beating up on Christie?
Two of the new hires come from Christie’s governor’s office and should bolster the campaign’s communications and research efforts. These times and these challenges demand a grown-up to be our candidate. To qualify, candidates must finish in the top six in an average of recent national polls or in the top five in an average of polls from early-voting Iowa or New Hampshire.
The ad is the billionaire businessman’s first foray into the world of television advertising after spending 2015 dominating polls and headlines while largely avoiding major spending.
ANNOUNCER: The politicians can pretend it’s something else, but Donald Trump calls it radical Islamic terrorism.
“It’s no good it’s no fair and they’re not going to screw around with the Second Amendment”, Trump said. “She’ll pat him on the head and then cut his heart out”. There’s nothing new in the ad. It’s a kind of Donald Trump’s greatest hits.
A mostly jovial Trump entertained a full house in a New Hampshire high school gym for about an hour, poking fun not only at political correctness, but the press and potential general election rival, Hillary Clinton. “Marco Rubio has work himself to do with conservatives”.
The initial ad, scheduled to begin airing on Tuesday, focuses on key issues including national security and illegal immigration.
