Rudy Giuliani appears to forget 9/11 happened, blames Obama
Obama took office on January 20, 2009, leading many outlets to point out that the eight years prior included the 9/11 attacks.
“I’m not there to give a major 45-minute policy address”, he told the New York Daily News on Tuesday, referencing his introduction ahead of a speech by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on foreign policy”.
He says that there were no successful terrorist attacks from Islamic groups before Barack Obama became president and while his speech shows that he has yet to forget 9/11, it does show that he has yet to lose his sense for shortsighted self-promotion at the expense of the truth.
That’s an apparent omission of the largest terror attack in United States history.
First, Rudy was the mayor of New York City DURING the horrific 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. That made his comments Monday all the more puzzling.
“Under those eight years, before Obama came along, we didn’t have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attack in the United States. They all started when Clinton and Obama got into office”, Giuliani said Monday.
The remarks are even more weird in light of Giuliani’s preceding comments, which directly reference 9/11 as an Islamic terrorist attack.
The former NYC mayor is now facing heat for the absent-minded slip.
He added: “Remember: We didn’t start this war; they did”. They did. We don’t want this war.
“SO Angry right now”, Laine-Peters, who lived across from the World Trade Center, tweeted.
The logic behind Rudy Giuliani’s comments was definitely subjective, but Menges’ statement was consistent with what the former mayor actually said (even though it may have been unclear or misleading).
Giuliani has not saved himself from controversy, however.
Giuliani pointed out the most recent attacks on Donald Trump, accusing the media of being bias against Republicans.
