Rui Faria Confirmed As Jose Mourinho’s Assistant At Manchester United
Jose Mourinho was unveiled earlier this week and new signings are flooding in the door.
Mourinho is already putting his own stamp on the squad and he is putting his stamp on the backroom team too.
Mourinho, who signed a £45m three-year deal with United was reportedly mobbed alongside new signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, while returning to the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.
The Spanish global already has a new defender in Eric Bailly in front of him, and he will certainly be tasked with leading from the back to ensure that Mourinho’s side is tough to break down which in turn will give their attacking players the opportunity to go out and win games.
And Mourinho himself has been keeping fans up to date about Manchester United’s training plans at Carrington via his new Instagram account.
Meanwhile, David de Gea will continue to develop under former Portugal goalkeeper Silvino Louro, who has been given the role of goalkeeping coach.
A young De Gea looked set to be loaned out by then Atletico boss Quique Sanchez Flores before Emilio intervened, put him on a strict training regime and saw him soon established as first choice at the Vicente Calderon Stadium before Sir Alex Ferguson came calling.
His arrival at Old Trafford may well persuade De Gea that his long-term future is at United rather than Real Madrid, who he came close to joining previous year.
