Rumer Willis to step into Broadway’s Chicago this summer
NEW YORK (AP) Bruce Willis’ daughter is beating her famous dad to Broadway.
The recent Dancing with the Stars champ will be appearing on Broadway – briefly – in the role of Roxie Hart in the revival of Chicago.
Less than two weeks after she leaves Broadway, Rumer’s father Bruce Willis will make his own debut in the prestigious theatre district in a production of “Misery“.
Willis, 26, is also celebrating DWTS’s Emmy nomination for outstanding reality competition program.
Lots of non-singers have had roles in Chicago on Broadway throughout the years.
Willis’ career as a performer started when she was a child, starring opposite her mother in the films “Striptease” and “Now and Then”. Many have inhabited the role before her, including Liza Minnelli, Melanie Griffith, Michelle Williams, Brooke Shields, Ashlee Simpson and now Brandy Norwood. Now working on her solo music album, she has Off-Broadway credits that include Love, Loss and What I Wore and For the Record live cabaret in Los Angeles.
The “Die Hard” actor portrays housebound romance novelist Paul Sheldon opposite Laurie Metcalf as his unhinged obsessive fan in the stage adaptation of Stephen King’s thriller, which begins previews on October 22.
