Rumor: Apple iPhone Event on Sept. 9
“The company intends to hold a special event the week of September 7, with Wednesday the 9th being the most likely date”, wrote BuzzFeed’s John Paczkowski. Additionally, the company is expected to unveil its 2015 line of iPads, but it’s unclear whether Apple will unveil its rumored and larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro, BuzzFeed said.
This year’s iPhone 6s is said to feature a Force Touch display (that senses how hard you are pressing on the screen) and a next generation A9 custom CPU. Other expected improvements include better camera performance, along with the addition of a new Qualcomm made LTE chip that will likely be much faster and power efficient.
The thing we should not miss to recollect is the company launched iPhone 6 models on the same day past year. Reuters quoted Apple saying it’s not in talks to launch a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service in the United States and in Europe. This seems legit as the Cupertino tech giant usually announces new products in that month.
The new phone most likely will not be called iPhone 7, and Apple will probably go with the “S” cycle. Apple annouced a new OS X, El Capitan, and iOS 9 during the keynote at the annual developers conference that runs through June 12. A report published in BuzzFeed indicates that Apple could also launch a new version of iPad in September.
More to the point at hand, the iPhone 6s line-up should be unveiled and released within the September-October timeframe – at least if we use past releases as points of reference. The technology was first used on the recent Apple Watch.
From the leaked images a few weeks back and the information by the people involved in the making of the phone, the new device will be a little bit thicker than the current version.
The new Apple TV unit might be presented at the event as well, featuring a redesigned interface, support for an App Store and a new remote significantly improved by a touchpad input.
