Rumour Mill: Aston Villa want Callum Wilson to replace Liverpool-bound
According to Telegraph Sport, Villa are reportedly one of many teams that have shown an interest in the former Arsenal striker, as Tim Sherwood looks to persuade Adebayor that a move to Birmingham is beneficial for his career.
Aston Villa are planning to open the chequebook as they try to get over the loss of two of their key players, and they have put Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin at the top of their target list, the Metro report.
Reports in recent weeks have linked Villa boss Tim Sherwood with a move for Adebayor and now ESPN have been informed that preliminary talks have begun between the two clubs over a possible deal for the 31-year-old Togo global.
Tottenham want around £4million for Adebayor but the stumbling block is his wages of £100,000-a-week.
“With both Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph gone Tim Sherwood has a lot of money to spend but it’s fair to say he’s got a hard job”, Redknapp told Kicca.com.
“Will he go and raid his old club Spurs?”
Sherwood may yet bid for Tottenham’s Andros Townsend although the England winger wants to fight for his place at White Hart Lane. “I know he likes Tom Carroll, he’s a good young player and Tim is a fan of his”. “It’s a good challenge for him and he’ll enjoy it”.
The Daily Express claims that the Villa manager will actually make a claim for Wilson who scored 20 goals to help Bournemouth finish first in the Championship and qualify to the Premier League.
