RUMOURS: Man Utd make Draxler bid
Borussia Dortmund are seemingly resigned to losing Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United, and have already begun the process of replacing him.
Mkhitaryan was one of Dortmund’s standout performers in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring 11 league goals and creating 15 more, per WhoScored.com.
The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, is said to have overturned a chair during negotiations with Dortmund, and he said that his client is “not the type to have conflicts” because that is left to him.
With a new centre-back and a new right winger, Mourinho will have plugged two major holes in United’s current squad but there are still two obvious gaps which will remain after that – a new striker and a new central midfielder. The 27-year-old has been one of the best talents in the Bundesliga this season, though he did take a while to adjust after joining Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Raiola, who also represents likely United mega-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, previously detailed his troubles with securing the move Mkhitaryan wants.
Mkhitaryan, who has attracted the interest of several other clubs, including Arsenal, would be offered a four or five-year contract with United hopeful that they can agree the fee with Dortmund in the next week.
Draxler is now on UEFA Euro 2016 duty with Germany, but United have wasted no time in laying their cards on the table and have apparently made a £30 million bid for his services. In Mkhitaryan, Ed Woodward and Jose Mourinho have the chance to make another massive statement, and that is a concept both men are famous for.
