Rupee down by 10 paise against United States dollars
The rupee today continued its upward march against the USA dollar for the third day, firming up by another 10 paise to 66.00 on fag-end selling of the American currency by banks and exporters on the back of lower greenback in the overseas market.
It had gained by 44 paise or 0.66 per cent in the previous three days.
It hovered in the range of 66.1750 to 66.10 per dollar during the morning deals, before quoting 66.12 at 1030 hrs.
The Dollar index, a measure of the value of the United States dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, declined 0.10 percent to settle at 99.53.
“Investors are expected to trade cautiously ahead of the data due this week”.
The Indian rupee extended its early decline against the United States dollar in evening deals on Wednesday, as regional stocks declined on weak global cues.
The dollar moved higher against major currencies as United States consumer sentiment beat forecasts, gaining for the second straight month. The benchmark BSE Sensex was trading lower by 68.80 points or 0.26 percent to 25,795.67 in opening trade.
