Russell Westbrook opens up about Kevin Durant’s decision to leave the Thunder
Warriors’ star, Kevin Durant, has reportedly hired extra security for Saturday night’s highly-anticipated game against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant returns to OKC on Saturday night (Feb. 11) for a primetime match-up.
There’s no answer to this question. Durant, who averaged 39.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as the Warriors won two home games against the Thunder by an average of 23.5 points earlier this season, said he will ride out the moment.
With so much attention on Durant’s return, Westbrook said he understands the hype and anticipation but isn’t necessarily looking forward to getting past the game.
Collison said he doesn’t have an opinion on how the fans should receive Durant.
It still seems like Westbrook’s problem is with the way that Durant left, sending a text message, and then never reaching out to Westbrook again, rather than the fact that he left. Durant helped build something special in one of the league’s smallest markets.
The Cavaliers climb back in to the third spot on this list after stringing together four straight wins to open their lead atop the Eastern Conference standings to 3.5 games.
Collison got the news of Durant’s decision to bolt OKC for Golden State like everyone else, via an online post in The Players Tribune last July 4. Paul also reminded him to show his appreciation to the city and organization, and reminded him that as long as he’s happy with his decision, he doesn’t owe anybody anything.
Cleveland lost the rebounding battle, 51-35, including 17-5 on the offensive end.
People in these parts have strong opinions about Durant, who left Oklahoma City after nine years to create a super team with the Warriors.
On draft night the Thunder made an interesting trade, sending forward Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic for guard Victor Oladipo and rookie forward Domantas Sabonis.
Russell Westbrook #0 of the Oklahoma City Thunder screams while trying to dunk over the San Antonio Spurs at AT&T Center on January 31, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. The Grizzlies is officially the only team that has beaten the Warriors twice this season. They’re just there to root their team on and really support their team. They needed a win over an elite team. It was awkward and there were many boos coming from Thunder fans. All he had to do was take a page out in the Oklahoman newspaper and thank the fans. Durant had stated before entering his free agency that he wanted to be on a championship caliber team. I know I’m making it sound as simple as that, but to me, that’s how I have to approach it. Eight years later, when Durant played his final season in Oklahoma City, leading the Thunder to its fourth Western Conference Finals berth in a six-year span, it had risen to 17in the National Basketball Association.
Durant insisted that he’s prepared for whatever reaction greets him at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Not to mention he donated $1 million of his own money when the city of Moore got hit with a tornado. “We don’t win this game without our bench”, McConnell said.
