Russia’s PM: Bombing mission against IS in Syria doesn’t weigh on
The black box would be analyzed “together with foreign experts”, the Russian president said on Tuesday.
A clip broadcast by the Russian defense ministry TV channel Zvezda showed a submarine on the surface, then from a distance at least four missiles being launched. “As a result of the successful launches by the aviation and submarine fleet, all targets were destroyed”, he added.
The Pentagon last month noted that Russian airstrikes appeared more focused on Islamic State targets, after the extremist group had been definitively linked to the bombing of a Russian jetliner in late October.
These minimal force increases and stepping up of Russian and US coalition air attacks do not solve the basic internal problems in Syria and Iraq that feed the Islamic State’s attraction. “This means we will perceive the place it was (in the intervening time of the downing) and the place the treacherous strike from the Turkish Air Force was carried out”.
Downing Street gave no immediate details of the discussion, but a Number 10 spokesman said: “We are always happy to help and assist other countries on issues of security like this”. Without commenting on the USA claim, Russias Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said it has serious concerns about reports of the coalition strike in Deir el-Zour.
Russia, the United States and the United Nations will hold three-way talks on the Syria crisis in Geneva on Friday, the U.N. Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura said on Wednesday.
The army has also advanced in parts of Aleppo province of northern Syria.
The Russian Defense Ministry had notified Israel and the USA about the missile strikes before launching them, Shoigu said.
“We are increasing our pressure there”, said Brett McGurk, without elaborating further.
She voiced hope that the Turkish deployment could “be done in that manner where a sovereign government is making judgments about which capabilities are deployed and making sure that it has visibility into everything going on in its country”.
The Russian intervention in Syria marked the first significant military action outside the former Soviet Union after the end of the cold war.
The question is whether Russian Federation and/or the United States can avoid what Obama described as being “drawn once more into a long and costly ground war in Iraq or Syria”.
