Russia: UK ‘Could Be Sued’ Over Litvinenko Blame
The minister said that the inquiry will seriously complicate Russian-British ties.
Earlier this month, a United Kingdom inquiry into the death of Litvinenko found the Russian authorities responsible for the murder, despite failing to prove that the polonium-210 used to poison the former agent came from Russia.
Russia’s foreign minister says the extension of Western sanctions against Russian Federation has been interpreted by Ukraine as a permission to drag its feet on fulfilling its end of a peace deal.
Last week, an inquiry led by Sir Robert Owen concluded that Litvinenko was killed by two Russian nationals during a Federal Security Service operation “probably” authorized by the Russian president.
“There is one thing I can agree to in what the British Foreign Office said: the Litvinenko case will further complicate our bilateral relations”.
If a trained lawyer analyzed those facts and statements made by the leadership of the British government then they could be brought to justice for slander, he said.
“All conclusions are based on the testimony of some specially selected witnesses, who are not objective… or the testimony which has been classified, so it has remained unclear who have given it and whom it has been given to”.
Moscow is certain that London’s actions regarding the Litvinenko case have a political side to it. That’s to what I agree completely.

She also announced that the European arrest warrants had been issued for the two main suspects – Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitri Kovtun – and that asset freezes had been put in place against them by the Treasury.
