Russian central military district troops put on full combat alert
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered snap inspections of the country’s Central Military District, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Monday.
He said 29 strategic airplanes took off from the Caspian, adding that the Tupolev Tu-160 strategic planes flew for over 13,000 km before successfully hitting their targets.
Providing the USA view of the new development, Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken tells NPR’s Steve Inskeep that if Russian Federation is more cooperative now, it might specifically be because of its military intervention in Syria.
Shoigu stressed that the number of aircraft taking part in the operation has been doubled and now consists of 69 jets conducting 143 sorties on a daily basis.
Deir al-Zour province is also rich in oil.
Video was also released of Russian air strikes hitting a column of il tankers in the Syrian desert, which they also claimed belonged to Isis.
“Life indeed moves on, often very quickly, and teaches us lessons”, Putin said, as the Two-Way reported.
In four days of heavy bombing against IS, the ministry said, more than 100 cruise missiles were launched and more than 800 “terrorist” targets destroyed in Syria.
“If we get a better understanding with Russian Federation about the process for bringing an end to the Syrian civil war, that obviously opens up more opportunities for coordination with respect to ISIL”, Obama said on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Manila, according to The Associated Press, using another acronym for ISIS.
Russian Federation first launched air strikes on Syria in September at the request of its long-standing ally President Bashar al-Assad, while a US-led coalition of countries opposed to the Syrian strongman is conducting a separate air campaign against IS.
The doomed plane was operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia and crashed en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Saint Petersburg, Russia, killing all 224 people on board.
“When the Charles de Gaulle comes to the shores of Syria, joint military work will be organized”, Russian Col. Gen. Andrei Kartapolov said in a statement on Wednesday.
