Russian Federation and Iran in Talks Over Arms Deal Worth $10 Billion
According to Iran’s state television channel, Rouhani told his Cabinet that Tehran’s “understanding in the nuclear deal was that the accord was not concluded with one country or government but was approved by a resolution of the U.N. Security Council and there is no possibility that it can be changed by a single government”.
The P5+1 (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the USA as well as Germany) reached a historic deal with Iran past year to curb the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program in return of lifting the nuclear related sanctions.
The Iran Sanctions Act “provides the basic architecture of US sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program and other risky activities, including its support of terrorism, illegal arms trade and illicit ballistic missile program”, AIPAC said in a statement thanking the House for approving the extension.
U.S. President Barack Obama is ignoring the latest violations, and the United Nations and IAEA reports.
Under the accord, Iran agreed not to develop nuclear weapons in exchange for economic sanctions to be lifted, but the country has boldly used its newfound spending power to invest in other military capabilities. The United States and its worldwide partners have a range of options, including but not limited to: tougher sanctions against Iranian missile proliferation networks than those enacted in January, and potentially unilateral military steps – including threats to shoot down future ballistic missile tests if necessary. Mr. Trump’s repudiation of the agreement would also put him at odds with Russian Federation, risking new tensions after vowing to improve Washington’s relationship with Moscow. But Bolton has never stopped talking about the need for the United States to bomb Iran. The measure, aiming to “halt the wholesale slaughter of the Syrian people”, and could apply to Russian Federation and Iran, said the Washington Post.
“We don’t have any judgment about the election since the U.S. is the same USA and during the past 37 years that the two parties held the power, they didn’t do any good to Iran and they permanently did evil things to the Iranian nation”, Khamenei said, addressing a large gathering in Isfahan.
On Nov. 15, in a reaction to news about Trump’s possible actions to put the nuclear deal in danger, Arman daily published Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri’s comments as saying, “They want to make the people worry”.
“The Unites States is the same country and over the past 37 years any of the USA major parties that came to power brought us no good, while their evil was always directed toward the Iranian nation”, Khamenei added.
English edition of Asharq Al-Awsat – the world’s premier pan-Arab daily. “I don’t think he is ideological and ultimately he is pragmatic”.
Adam Szubin, who serves as acting under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the Treasury Department, said he plans to present as many options as possible to his successor on Iran policy, after focusing for several years on the machinations of sanctions against Iran and its proxies.
It is doubtless that repealing the Iran Deal is not in America’s best interest. “This kind of dialogue between the leaders of our two states largely determines the atmosphere of Russian-Iranian relations as well as bilateral and global issues on the agenda”, the Russian Federation Council speaker said. The agreement, which officially took effect in January, has released hundreds of millions of dollars in impounded Iranian funds and spurred a rush of European business interest in Iran trade and investment deals, generating momentum that would be hard to reverse.
Dehqan, who made this statement while attending the inauguration of the 8th International Aviation Exhibition on Kish Island in the Persian Gulf, also lauded what he claimed has been Iran’s ability to make strides in military advancement, despite the sanctions.
