Russian Federation to ink contact with Iran to supply SU-30SM fighter jets

It was also announced that Russian Federation will sign a contract to sell Sukhoi Su-30 and Su-30SM warplanes to Iran.
The deal was finally back on track in April past year after Iran and the six world powers decided on a comprehensive nuclear agreement that made a decision to lift the sanctions against Iran if it promises to use its nuclear capabilities only for peaceful purposes, Sputnik News reported.
First of all, Iran is interested in Russia’s assistance in creating an integrated echelon air-defense system comprising short-, medium- and long-range components.
Iran is seeking to buy from Moscow at least 100 short-haul super jets, according to the president of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation.
There are no formal restrictions on deliveries of airplanes to Iran, he noted. Moscow and Tehran avidly cooperated in the military-technical field after the Iranian revolution and until the introduction of anti-Iranian sanctions.
“Secretary of State John Kerry frontloaded Iran’s payday for all the wrong reasons”, Rubin said.
Rubin said he expects Iran to also pursue weapons and arms deals with China in the near future.
