Russian football fans arrested after attacks in Germany
“All of them had tickets for the Russia-England match” where fighting between fan clubs earlier in the week resulted in the arrest and expulsion of some Russians.
The thugs, reportedly part of the radical ring-wing group Sparta Manoko, then became aggressive and lashed out at the tourists.
The Russians “beat and kicked” their victims, leaving one seriously wounded with a broken nose, police said, without giving details on what sparked the attack. The police detained six of them; one managed to escape.
They were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Five were immediately arrested, but a sixth suspect, who had fled the scene, was arrested in the departure lounge at Cologne airport before he could board a flight to Ibiza, Spain.
There is apparently no stopping the rampage of Russian hooligans.
Their documents revealed the troupe had flown from Moscow to Marseille on June 10, and were making their way back home on the train.
The arrests follow widespread fan violence at the football competition, with French police arresting 43 Russian supporters after clashes England fans in the Marseille stadium.
