Russian police arrest woman waving child’s head
A woman holding the severed head of a young child was arrested for murder outside a metro station in Moscow on Monday, Russian investigators said.
Police in the Russian capital of Moscow have arrested a woman after the headless body of a four-year-old child was found in an apartment nearby.
The motive for the crime was unknown, they said, and the woman was undergoing psychiatric testing to see if she was mentally sound.
The woman’s ranting, recorded by several people who posted videos online, was largely nonsensical but included mentions of terrorism. The child was between 3 and 4 years old.
According to him, the investigators managed to achieve contact with the detainee and that gave a confession about the murder of the girl.
She was identified as 38-year-old Gulchekhra Bobokulova, a babysitter who had been working for the child’s family for a year, according to Sputnik.
Eyewitness Alyona Kuratova claimed that she saw Bobokulova holding the child’s head by the hair.
Bystanders said it was hard to determine if it was a man or a woman, as the person was dressed head to toe in black.
Metro police can been seen in the background in a video of her, but were probably told to be cautious in approaching the women because she allegedly threatened to blow up herself.
The woman then pulled the head out of a bag near the Oktyabrskoye Pole station, the newspaper reports.
Russian journalist Polina Nikolskaya, who witnessed the scene, told Reuters: “I was on my way to the metro station from home”.
The incident reportedly occurred when a policeman asked Bobokulova for identification outside of the Oktyabrskoye Polye metro station in northwest Moscow.
The body of a child, which showed signs of a violent death, was found after firefighters put out the blaze.
