Russian pranksters claim Putin hoax call to Elton John
A pair of Russian phone pranksters have claimed they fooled Elton John into believing he was talking to President Vladimir Putin. That was directed to, er, both of you.
On Tuesday there was growing confusion about what really happened between Sir Elton and the Russian president after the 68-year-old thanked Putin in an Instagram post for “reaching out” to him.
However, Putin is willing to talk with John about any issues he may have, Peskov added.
Vladimir Putin has denied phoning Sir Elton John to arrange a meeting to discuss Russia’s anti-gay movement.
You might think that Putin’s sudden desire to chat with Elton John is a bit surprising. “You made my day.'” The singer has yet to comment on the revelation.
However, The Times reports that Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denied any such conversation took place.
“Taking into account that there are many insinuations of late, we regard such information with extreme caution”, he said.
Haven’t received such signals?
Whether or not the alleged telephone call from Putin was real, imagined or something in between, the idea of a meeting between Putin and the Rocket Man has not been entirely ruled out.

Sir Elton first made the offer of talks in Ukraine last week, where he met President Petro Poroshenko to lobby him about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.
If there really is such a proposal or request from Elton John, I have no doubt that the president would be ready to meet with him and clarify any questions that he has, Peskov assured. “It’s probably pie in the sky”, he said.
