Russian Technology Will Save the World From ISIS
Russian politicians have stated the need for the West and the Kremlin to put aside past transgressions and join together against ISIS terrorists in Syria, according to Reuters.
Russian Foreign Ministry official Ilya Rogachev earlier on Friday criticised France’s justification for the attacks, that they were self-defence according to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
“‘Pilots and technicians of Hmeymim airbase have sent their message to terrorists by priority airmail”, the caption accompanying the video said.
Russian Federation began a large-scale bombing campaign against targets in Syria Sept. 30, which Moscow says is focused on Islamic State militants but critics allege targets a wider band of opponents of Moscow’s ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Col Patrick Ryder, a spokesman for US Central Command, said the Russian air strikes in recent days targeted more IS areas, including the group’s oil infrastructure.
Putin praised the Russian operation in Syria but said it was “still not sufficient” to wipe out the jihadists in the country and that a “large volume of work” lay ahead. Another video published Friday captures a “massive strike with cruise missiles” fired by Russian ships from the Caspian Sea.
Meanwhile, Moscow has said ISIS was so overwhelmed with casualties in the attacks it is having to crudely hide dead bodies at night.
Russian Federation has launched pinpoint air strikes against eight Islamic State targets.
In fact, on Tuesday, Russia announced strikes against what is said were ISIS targets in the Syria provinces of Aleppo and Idlib.
Experts are suggesting the escalation of attacks is Russia’s promised retaliation for the downing of a Russian airliner last month in the Sinai Peninsula, which killed 224 civilians.
Yesterday Russian president Vladmir Putin confirmed it was an Islamic State bomb which brought down the doomed Russian passenger jet.
The resolution, which does not provide a legal basis for military action, urges those countries who can to “take all necessary measures, in compliance with worldwide law… on the territory under the control of ISIL…in Syria and Iraq”.
