Ryan Adams Just Released His Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Cover Album – and It’s
No matter, alternative country singer Ryan Adams has come to their rescue, releasing a 1989 cover album, available for purchase on iTunes now.
If it’s any consolation to Ryan, Taylor’s been the biggest cheerleader for the album so far – and it was never going to please both sets of fans completely.
According to outcome of Sound, the album’s physical release on vinyl and CD will be available in the future. Zane Lowe debuted the tune on Beats 1 Radio on Thursday, and Swift retweeted the announcement while also expressing her excitement for the upcoming project. However, their fan bases are quite opposite to each other.
While scoring a major chart hit with a cover is nothing new, it is unusual for a pop star’s most recent hit album to be re-recorded song for song by another well-known rock artist.
To really understand what this means to Swift, she tweeted her feelings three days before the cover’s release. “And I was like, I’m going to make “1989” like “Nebraska” style”. She also put out out a picture of a cat with the caption “Waiting fur Ryan Adams 1989 like”. He dropped clips of his recording sessions in Los Angeles all over social media. Adams has been gearing up for a covers album his entire career. But the through-line here is the magnetism of Swift’s songwriting-words and music that were sturdy before Adams began building atop their foundation.
