Ryan plugs GOP campaign agenda, but no mention of Trump
No matter how silly, dissonant, or just plain out of touch with reality it looks, the House speaker is waging the 2016 race as he believes it should be run. Nancy Pelosi is crushing him in fundraising and the New York Times says big donors are urging the RNC to cut ties with Trump.
Trump accused media of “pushing false and unsubstantiated charges, and outright lies” against him in an effort to help elect Clinton. Trump has apologized for the comments, denied sexually assaulting anyone, as Ryan and other republicans have blasted his conduct.
Markey, a senior Democrat who spent more than three decades in the House before winning a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2013, said although Republican members of Congress will try to distance themselves from Trump, it will be hard.
“I think they’re just trying to buy this election”, Steinorth said of Democrats. “He’s a billionaire with blue collar appeal”.
“People are not needed, they are counted and sorted”, he said. They are looking on as the political institution to which they have always been loyal is refashioned into a house of freaky horrors so utterly distant from their sober, community-minded and, in the truest sense of the word, conservative approach to life.
“What’s been stepped up, is we have the last five days reserved for Ron Johnson, whatever he needs, so Paul Ryan will be out campaigning across the state with him from November 4, 5 and 6, he’s got the last four of five days which he’ll spend just totally dedicated to getting out the vote with Ron”, a GOP aide familiar with the operation told The Daily Caller News Foundation. And that’s what people like. “Nothing. Two candidates, same resume”.
Ryan did not mention Trump during his speech, or receive any questions about Trump for the college students, which were submitted and selected by conservative radio host Vicki McKenna. It turns out that Paul Ryan is not as different from Donald Trump as Paul Ryan’s press materials keep insisting.
Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam fueled much of the surge, contributing a combined $20 million, PAC officials said. Clinton is a traditional politician. Only 1996 GOP nominee Bob Dole has remained loyal to Trump, although his health does not permit him to campaign for him. And he acknowledged that college Republicans might be having a rough time lately.
Whether that has been good or bad for IL may be in the eyes of the beholder, but there’s little doubt that the Republican Party in this state has received a new energy, typified by Morrison’s rise to power. “Yet, after the revelation of a 2005 ‘hot mic” recording of Trump engaging in crude “locker room” sexual banter with Billy Bush, an entertainment reporter, many of these party leaders have abandoned their nominee.
“That’s an interesting question and one that was brought up repeatedly at a recent party event”, Morrison said. Pence replied: “All I know for sure is that Donald Trump is going to be ready for the debate on Wednesday night”. “It’s going to be something we tell our grandchildren about”.
Well before Trump won the nomination, Republicans assumed their standard-bearer could start with a baseline of what Mitt Romney won four years ago (61 million votes), then pull in additional independents unsettled by the notion of a third consecutive Democratic term. In a typical election year, that wouldn’t be news.
The Republican National Committee and individual Senate and House campaigns also have an extensive “ground game” of staffers and volunteers working to identify and encourage supporters.
