Ryan Tannehill avoids serious injury after leaving Dolphins practice, reports say
While no quarterback injury is good, this should certainly come as a relief to the Dolphins, as it could have been much worse. Trainers were examining his brace-covered left knee before taking the 29-year-old inside for further evaluation. The Miami Herald first reported the uncertainty of the initial findings, adding that it was not known yet whether surgery will be required to fix Tannehill’s knee.
Tannehill missed last season’s final four games, including a playoff loss at Pittsburgh, after spraining two ligaments in the same knee. While the team is still waiting on an MRI, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Dolphins are “concerned” about Tannehill’s health. The quarterback was walking with a slight limp as he entered the building. I didn’t see any details. “That was all I really saw”. “There was no contact on the play”, offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said. “We’ll get the report when we go in”.
The fear is that Tannehill re-aggravated the knee, which he opted not to have surgery on despite suffering an ACL and MCL injury during last December’s win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Tannehill and the entire organization are now awaiting the results of an MRI that could decide the fate of Miami’s passing offense in 2017. I haven’t heard anything.
“He’s a great quarterback”, quarterback coach Bo Hardegree said. But right now we’re in the part of the preseason where. we’re finding those boundaries. Ultimately, there’s no way to know what to expect from Tannehill, or the Dolphins for that matter, at this point.
Last season, Tannehill completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 4,208 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
The injury occurred during on a noncontact play at practice, and Tannehill went down while scrambling on a play.
